NRA CET 2024 to Replace SSC CHSL, CGL, MTS, and GD Tier 1 Exams
In a significant development for aspirants of SSC CHSL, CGL, MTS, and GD exams, the year 2024 will witness the transition from the conventional Tier 1 examinations to the introduction of the National Recruitment Agency Common Eligibility Test (NRA CET). Beginning in 2024, there will be no more SSC Tier 1 exams, as they will be replaced by the NRA CET. Here are the key details:
NRA CET 2024 for SSC CHSL, CGL, MTS, and GD:
The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is set to launch the Common Eligibility Test (CET) in 2024, as reported by various media outlets. The NRA will administer a single unified test for shortlisting candidates applying for Group B and C (non-technical) positions. The NRA CET 2023 will be conducted exclusively in an online, computer-based test (CBT) format.
This Common Eligibility Test will serve as the preliminary assessment for recruitments conducted by entities such as IBPS, SSC, and RRB.
Impact of NRA CET on SSC Recruitment Exams:
Upon the commencement of NRA CET, the Tier 1 examinations currently conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will be discontinued. The NRA CET 2024 will serve as the preliminary evaluation for selecting candidates for subsequent recruitment stages.
Qualification for Tier 2:
Candidates who successfully clear the NRA CET will receive invitations from the Commission to participate in the Tier 2 examination or the subsequent selection phases associated with SSC CHSL, SSC CGL, SSC MTS, SSC GD, and other similar exams.
Validity of NRA CET Scores:
The scores obtained in NRA CET will remain valid for a duration of three years. Individuals who qualify in NRA CET 2024 will be eligible to participate in SSC recruitment exams until 2026. For candidates who take the NRA CET annually, their highest score will be considered as their current NRA CET score for the purpose of selection.
No Restrictions on Attempting NRA CET:
NRA CET imposes no restrictions on the number of attempts allowed. Aspiring SSC candidates can take the CET exam as many times as they wish, provided they meet the eligibility criteria specified by the Commission for the respective SSC examination.
Final Selection by the Commission:
The ultimate selection of candidates for appointment will continue to be handled by the Staff Selection Commission itself.
Highlights of NRA CET Exam:
Candidates must register for NRA CET and select their preferred examination centers.
The NRA CET exam will be administered online.
The exam will be held twice annually.
There are no limitations on the number of attempts for the Common Eligibility Test.
NRA CET will be conducted in multiple languages.
CET scores will remain valid for a period of three years.
In addition to SSC, the NRA CET exam will serve as the preliminary evaluation for examinations conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
